A paper regarding the Ryugu sample released from the Sandy Materials Analysis Team.

Sandy Materials Analysis Team (led by Dr. Noguchi of Kyoto Univ), a sub-team of the Hayabusa2 Initial Analysis team has been published their research results for "Nature Astronomy."

This study shows that the inconsistency between interpretation based on the spectral observation that Ryugu is similar to strongly heated and dehydrated carbonaceous chondrites and the analytical results on returned Ryugu samples that they are similar to least-heated hydrated carbonaceous chondrites results from space weathering effects which cause dehydration of very surface layers of Ryugu samples.
