Curation work for the largest Ryugu particle is in progress!

The largest particle that JAXA's spacecraft Hayabusa2 brought back from the asteroid Ryugu was over 10 mm in major diameter (other particles are mainly less than several mm in size), which was beyond even the expectations of all involved. Since the particle was too large to fit in the containers that had been prepared in advance, this large particle was transferred into a sample dish specially designed and described by microscopy and visible/near-infrared spectroscopic and imaging analyzer.
The video shows the largest particle being transferred into the dish in a nitrogen-purged chamber using a vacuum tweezers system, with which the particle sticks to the tip of a hollow needle by a pressure difference.
