Category 3 particles recovered from the Hayabusa spacecraft show carbon-rich signatures by SEM-EDS. Even though the carbonaceous particles are not likely to be extraterrestrial materials by previous studies, the origins have not been clear yet. In this study, the category 3 particles are analyzed to characterize the detailed chemical structures by desorption electrospray ionization coupled with Orbitrap mass spectrometry in order to investigate their origins.
